What could be better than to share a sweet baby at her own baby shower? And that’s how our beautiful 8 week old baby granddaughter met some very important people. We turned on the pink and feminine for her very first tea party and she loved every minute!
I didn’t need much more inspiration other than ‘baby girl’ to get my color theme…that led me to pink tulips, old fashioned roses, and tiny wax flowers in deep and light pink to create my centerpiece, napkin inserts and candle wreath (Safeway flowers). Our camelias were in full bloom – lucky me! – and they were all pink! I found the cutest pink damask fabric for my table runner from Carousel Designs (www.babybedding.com)

The ‘nesting’ theme gave me lots of opportunities to create: from lavender sachets to pink bird cages. Guests received lavender dryer sachets in peach chiffon fabric if they found a stamped nest on a linen square under their plate. See my DIY page for all the fun baby shower creations, including specially made soft fabric roses for napkin holders.
A vintage soup tureen worked beautifully as my ‘vase’ for my tulips, roses and wax flower arrangement. I created a grid on the top of the tureen with clear florist tape and slipped the flowers in at various angles, gently pushing into the wet florist foam inside the tureen. They lasted for days and days.
Pink wax flowers were tucked inside the lace napkins held by soft fabric rose napkin rings
